The Live Horse Racing Track
We run live racing for Standardbred, Thoroughbred, and Quarter Horses throughout the warmer months. In all, over 60 live race dates stretch from spring into fall on our 5.5-furlong oval, with the busiest weeks mostly on Fridays and Saturdays.
Standardbred harness meets fill most of the summer up near Calgary, while the Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse groups race at scheduled intervals. You can find details for each meet directly on our site when dates update. Facilities at Century Downs include a dirt surface, proper starting gates, professional timing, and designated spaces for fans.
When racing wraps up here over the summer, action continues up north as the Standardbred circuit shifts to Century Mile near Edmonton. This staggered schedule helps keep horse racing running nearly year-round in Alberta.
Support wise, trainers and horses have use of the full backstretch: paddock zone, barns, and vet access all season. The site covers 103 acres, so there’s plenty of space for preparation as well as spectating.
Off-Track Betting and Simulcast Options
Our off-track betting lounge is right within the main casino. Guests can wager year-round on races across Canada, the US, and big international tracks too. Race feeds are simulcast onto live screens, which brings action from all over straight to your table.
It’s open anytime the casino is, so even if no race is happening here that day, betting still goes on. Place bets like win, place, show, exacta, trifecta and more – either at electronic terminals or with someone at the betting desk.
There’s race day programs and past performance stats handy at the lounge, just ask at the counter. The betting area links directly with the casino floor, making it simple for visitors to move between horse wagering and gaming during the same trip.

We’re set up at 260 Century Downs Drive, Rocky View County, about 20 minutes north from downtown Calgary and just 5 km north of Calgary International Airport. Turn off Highway 2 onto CrossIron Drive, then head left onto Century Downs Drive. We’re close to Balzac, right near both main highways.
Coming from the north side instead? Use Highway 566, go east to Dwight McLellan Trail, then south and finally right onto Crosspointe Crescent/Century Downs Drive.
Parking’s free for everyone who visits. Our building is fully accessible for wheelchairs, and we have ramps, accessible spots, and suitable facilities throughout.
Next door is CrossIron Mills shopping centre, plus several hotels and open space, so you have options for a longer visit or just a quick day trip in and out.
Dining at The Derby and Lounge
The Derby Restaurant is inside our casino, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily. Kitchen hours run 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. The bar keeps pouring until 2:00 a.m. on Fridays/Saturdays, or 1:00 a.m. the rest of the week.
Breakfast starts at 9:30 a.m. and goes until 11 a.m., with all-day breakfast offered Mondays. Our menu at The Derby changes a bit by meal, and daily deals pop up each week.
If you want something lighter or just a drink near the action, The Oaks Lounge is our spot on the gaming floor. On live race days, restaurant hours adjust to match the racing. For events, reservations are advised during big race times so you don’t miss out on a prime trackside table.
Group Events and Spaces
We have dedicated spaces for events big and small, from corporate presentations and parties to wedding groups. The Homestretch Room holds up to 140 people, with windows lining one side for front-row racetrack views. You can book it for buffets or full-service dining on race days.
Additional group areas: Boardroom, Paddock Room, plus outdoor options if the weather’s alright. We offer in-house catering through the Century brand, all customisable for your group’s needs. You can add live racing or slot play to event activities as you like.
Homestretch Room is a client favourite for raceview events. We’re used for team off-sites and year-end functions just as often as family parties or receptions.
We sort out your setup, offer AV if needed, and run service staff throughout. Group bookings need reservations in advance, timing depends on season and what exactly you’re planning.

Our Regulatory Setup
We run under a racetrack entertainment centre licence from the AGLC. That lets us offer live racing, slots, VLTs, and electronic tables – but not live dealer tables. In recent years, we and our sister site, Century Mile, tried to apply for full casino licences, but Alberta regulators decided racetrack-casinos will keep operating under current rules, focusing on electronic gaming alongside horse racing.
